Indeed, a watch runs differently according to its position. the heart of the movement can beat at different speeds, which causes discrepancies in the time given.

The Tourbillon was therefore invented to average out errors of rate in the vertical positions, caused by the earth's gravitational pull on the watch's movement. This wonderful specialty was invented in 1801 and, since then, only a few dozen different Tourbillon models have been made.
