Breitling Navitimer is the world’s first chronograph and is the most iconic of all Breitling watches. It is a pilot’s watch and was designed with a circular slide rule on the bezel for precision timing, computing and conversions. The Navitimer is the official watch of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association) and its logo appeared on all Navitimer dial during the 1950’s. The Navitimer 806 was launched in 1952 and is considered the world’s oldest chronograph. In 1961, astronaut Scott Carpenter advised Breitling to design a 24-hour Navitimer instead of 12-hour version since there is no day or night when in space. The resulting model came to be called the Cosmonaute Navitimer.
