Breitling Chronomat is one of Breitling’s biggest sellers. In 1940, Breitling applied for a Swiss government patent for an innovative circular slide rule. In 1941-1942 the first Chronomats were produced and sold. Its success is outstanding and led to the production of the Navitimer modeled after the E6B circular slide rule used by pilots. Various models of the Chronomat were produced. Late 1960’s the first version of the first automatic chronograph was released followed in the 1970’s by the quartz non-chronograph. In 1979 Breitling Company was sold to Mr. Ernest Schneider and production of the Chronomat halted. In 1984 Chronomat was back in production exclusively for pilots.
